Arthur King was one of eight members of the air crew of a B-26 piloted by Marvin Hughes, that was reported missing in action following a mission over Rabaul, New Guinea in May 1942. All eight members of the crew were awarded the Silver Star. Two men died in the ditching and two men evaded the enemy and returned to duty. King was one of four who were captured by the Japanese and held as prisoners of war. He and one other crew member were executed while in captivity.
