(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technical Sergeant Raymond Blaine Hyman (ASN: 35259355), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with 380th Bombardment Group (Heavy), FIFTH Air Force, while participating in a bombing mission on 10 July 1943, against enemy targets at Babo, New Guinea. Technical Sergeant Hyman was serving in the lead ship in a bombing formation that was intercepted by Japanese Zeroes when a cannon shell set fire to the bomb bay section. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technical Sergeant Hyman, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
