The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Jacob Franklin Yeager, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 11 May 1864, while serving with Company H, 101st Ohio Infantry, in action at Buzzard’s Roost, Georgia. Private Yeager seized a shell with fuze burning that had fallen in the ranks of his company and threw it into a stream, thereby probably saving his comrades from injury.
