    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Major John B. Cisney, United States Army, for heroism above and beyond the call of duty on 6 March 2001, by displaying superior courage and concern for his fellow man at a great risk of life to himself. Major Cisney rescued a semi-conscious truck driver from a burning and exploding semi-tractor trailer. After rescuing the truck driver, he went back to look for possible passengers to pull from the wreckage. He rendered assistance to emergency technicians by relaying medical reports from the emergency technician to the 911 operator and assisting in carrying the injured truck driver out of the ditch and into the ambulance. His humanitarian acts of bravery are of heroic nature and truly saved the life of another human being. Through his actions and accomplishments, Major Cisney has brought the highest credit upon himself, Lincoln’s Challenge Program and the Army National Guard.
