Sorensen, United States Army, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as an MH-60L Crew Chief and Gunner with the 2d Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 19 October 2001.
