Craig McKinley was commissioned in 1974 as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Southern Methodist University. He served from 2008 to 2012 as Chief of the National Guard Bureau, He is the first officer from the National Guard to ever achieve 4-star rank. He retired in 2008 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
