Major McCann distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Pilot of an RF-4C aircraft wit the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 432d Tactical Reconnaissance Wing, SEVENTH Air Force, Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in action against the enemy in 1968 and 1969. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major McCann, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
