Major McCann distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Pilot of an RF-4C aircraft wit the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, 432d Tactical Reconnaissance Wing, SEVENTH Air Force, Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in action against the enemy in 1968 and 1969.
