Second Lieutenant Harding distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as a Platoon Leader in the 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action in the Dominican Republic on 1 May 1965. The devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Harding, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
