The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Sergeant Phillip J. Svitak, United States Army, for extraordinary achievement while serving as a flight engineer for aircraft Razor 01, on 4 March 2002, in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Sergeant Svitak’s absolute commitment to the mission, superb leadership, and tactical expertise have ensured the success of his company. Sergeant Svitak’s professionalism, devotion to duty, and warrior spirit are in the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), the United States Army Special Operations Command, the United States Army Central Command, and the United States Army.
