Coxwell (ASN: 0-388654), United States Army Air Forces, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in leading bombing attacks as Commander of a Heavy Bombing Group, on a heavily-fortified Japanese base during World War II, and enabling his group to inflict severe damage on hostile personnel and material.
