    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class Richard M. Burbridge (ASN: ER-13740421), United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy at approximately 2350 hours on 3 August 1966, at Camp A. P. Hill Military Reservation by voluntarily exposing himself to great personal hazard by participating in the rescue of three individuals who were trapped in an automobile accidentally overturned in a lake. Private Burbridge repeatedly dove under water and swam inside the immersed vehicle to help in the release of the three men trapped therein. Through heroic efforts Private Burbridge’s actions bring great honor to himself into the United States Army.
