The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Army Award) to Captain Bradley T. Foote (AFSN: FV-3033772), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight from July 1965 to November 1965 in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Foote demonstrated unique flying ability and indomitable courage while participating in a hazardous flying operation. His determination and professional skill insured the success of a mission in which a helicopter, equipped with special electronic equipment was required to maintain a tight orbit position at an altitude of less than five hundred feet in the close proximity of hostile troop concentrations. Although the aircraft was required to orbit for one hour and often exposed to hostile gun fire and adverse weather, he repeatedly volunteered for these perilous missions. Captain Foote’s heroic actions, perseverance, and flying experience contributed to the success of these dangerous aerial missions and reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Air Force, and the military service.
