The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Chemical Corps) La Monte A. Tucker, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from July 1959 to July 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal awarded to Colonel Tucker for meritorious service during the period 24 September 1962 to 31 July 1965 as announced in General Orders Number 38, Headquarters, U.S. Army Munitions Command, Dover, New Jersey, dated 15 June 1965.]
