The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Medical Corps) Harold E. Opsahl, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from November 1954 to October 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal to Colonel Opsahl for meritorious service during the period November 1954 to October 1962 as announced in General Orders Number 43, Office of The Surgeon General, Headquarters, Department of the Army, dated 24 October 1962.]
