The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Ordnance Corps) Laurence A. Stone, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from July 1957 to March 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal (Second Oak Leaf Cluster) awarded to Colonel Stone for meritorious service from 21 December 1964 to 31 March 1965, as announced in General Orders Number 21, Headquarters, United States Army Supply and Maintenance Command, dated 5 April 1965.]
