The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) Donald F. Polden, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from November 1949 to August 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal to Colonel Polden for service during the period July 1961 through June 1962, as announced in General Orders Number 53, Headquarters, XV United States Army Corps, dated 16 August 1962.]
