The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Field Artillery) James F. Eason, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from July 1955 to May 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to Colonel Eason for meritorious service during the period 9 August 1957 to 15 January 1960 as announced in General Orders Number 3, Headquarters, 2d Region, United States Army Air Defense Command, dated 7 January 1960.]
