The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Chemical Corps) Arent O. Wiken, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from August 1957 to April 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) to Colonel Wiken for meritorious service during the period 1 August 1957 to 9 June 1961 as announced in General Orders Number 33, Office of the Chief Chemical Officer, Headquarters, Department of the Army, dated 22 June 1961.]
