The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Colonel (Quartermaster Corps) Gordon C. Gill, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from May 1948 to January 1965. [This award supersedes award of the Army Commendation Medal to Colonel Gill for meritorious service during the period 2 March 1956 to 1 April 1957 as announced in General Orders Number 40, Headquarters, United States Army Forces, Far East and EIGHTH United States Army (REAR), dated 12 April 1957 and the Army Commendation Medal (First Oak Leaf Cluster) for meritorious service during the period July 1960 to June 1963 as announced in General Orders Number 32, Headquarters, Department of the Army, dated 17 July 1963.]
