(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain (Field Artillery) Claiborne W. Davis, Jr. (ASN: 0-37001), United States Army, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. His outstanding courage and dedication to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain (Field Artillery) Claiborne W. Davis, Jr. (ASN: 0-37001), United States Army, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Headquarters, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea from 24 to 28 September 1950. Captain Davis completed fifty combat missions in support of the 25th Infantry Division. Despite anti-aircraft and small arms fire and hazards of weather and mountainous terrain, he flew close in missions to spot gargets for United Nations aircraft and obtain valuable reconnaissance information. His untiring and courageous work was of inestimable value to the success of Division operations and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
