(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Armor) Thomas Burdick Tyree, United States Army, for for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as Squadron Commander and Brigade Executive Officer in the 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
