The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Frank Zamito (ASN: 32651808), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Battery A, 321st Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Lunebach, Germany, on 27 February 1945. In the face of enemy machine gun and small arms fire, he waded the Prum River carrying a vitally needed radio to a vantage point on the opposite shore where he established strong points and resulted in the destruction of a machine gun nest and the capture of twenty-four of the enemy. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technician Fifth Grade Zamito, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
