The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Albert C. Painsipp (ASN: 13904252), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 132d Infantry Regiment, 33d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Hamel, Belgium, 4 July 1918. Single-handed Corporal Painsipp attacked a German machine-gun emplacement. Although wounded in the leg, when a machine-gun was trained upon him, he boldly attacked it with hand grenades and drove off the crew.
