(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Private First Class Yow Fong Wong, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 40th Infantry Division in the Philippine Islands during World War II. Private First Class Wong saved his platoon by killing seven of the 21 Japanese who attacked his platoon. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
