The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private James H. O’Rourke (ASN: 1746552), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company D, 311th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Vieville-en-Haye, France, 26 September 1918. After being twice wounded, Private O’Rourke captured two prisoners and took them to the battalion headquarters.
