Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 207 (October 31, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant [then Sergeant] Stanley M. Wisotsky (ASN: 32111122), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 23 February 1945, in Germany. Staff Sergeant Wisotsky displayed outstanding courage by voluntarily leading his command group under a hail of enemy fire through a woods infested with mines and booby traps. Realizing that any false step would mean his death, he moved for five hundred yards to the far side of the forest by cutting trip wires and stepping over booby traps. By his gallant actions, Staff Sergeant Wisotsky brought the command group to the line of departure in time for the ensuing attack. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Staff Sergeant Wisotsky, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
