The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Harlan B. Wilson (ASN: 38600363), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 December 1944 in Germany. During the violent engagement in the Siegfried Line, Private Wilson volunteered to obtain ammunition from a tank which had been immobilized by enemy fire. Racing through intense enemy fire, for a distance of two hundred yards, he reached the source of ammunition and was able to return with a supply for both machine guns and rifles. He then moved about from position to position under a murderous hail of enemy fire to deliver a supply to the men of his platoon. The great courage displayed by Private Wilson reflects highest credit on himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
