The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Private First Class] Frank H. Vore (ASN: 38693941), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 23 February 1945, in Germany. Sergeant Vore, although painfully wounded, moved t the head of his company under a hail of enemy fire and led it through a booby trapped and mine infested woods to the line of departure. Still refusing evacuation, he moved into the attack until he was pinned down by savage machine gun fire. Despite drawing the enemy fire, Sergeant Vore assumed an exposed position and fired his rifle with such rapidity that he knocked out the machine gun position and allowed his company to advance and complete the capture of the objective. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Vore, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
