Headquarters, 94th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 100 (April 21, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private David Vinigrad (ASN: 32087916), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 302d Infantry Regiment, 94th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Germany on 7 March 1945. In a fierce counterattack by numerically superior German forces, Private Vinigrad distinguished himself by his bravery in the face of the enemy. When his company was forced to withdraw to new positions he remained behind, and pinned down the attacking forces with raking fire from his Browning Automatic Rifle until he was mortally wounded. His unselfish courage, determination and supreme devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
