The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Aloizy John Nagowski (ASN: 1215123), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company H, 108th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. Corporal Nagowski left shelter, went forward under intense machine-gun fire and carried a wounded officer to a place of safety. In accomplishing this mission he was severely wounded.
