The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Alfred Treffiletti (ASN: 32858154), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 25 July 1944, in France. Private First Class Treffiletti crawled under exposure to enemy fire to rescue three wounded comrades. He returned them to a safer position where they could receive medical aid. Each trip to a wounded man meant constant exposure to enemy fire. He displayed a high degree of courage and loyal devotion to duty, which reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
