(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Sergeant George J. Torbic, United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 85th Infantry Division during World War II. Sergeant Torbic attacked an enemy gun emplacement with hand grenades and rifle fire, thus enabling his platoon to continue its advance on the FIFTH Army front in Italy. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
