Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 171 (June 27, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Bayne C. Teague (ASN: 33857987), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 24 March 1945, in Germany. Sergeant Teague led a section of a combat patrol in an assault on enemy positions in the face of heavy fire, overrunning the enemy’s defenses and capturing five prisoners. So sudden and effective was the attack that the enemy withdrew from the sector and made no attempt to recapture the positions. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Teague, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
