(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Technician Fourth Grade William A. Stohosky (Stochosky) (ASN: 39303807), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with the 40th Infantry Division on 24 January 1945. On that date Technician Fourth Grade Stohosky crawled approximately 200 yards through heavy enemy machine gun and mortar fire to administer first aid to a wounded soldier. He remained with the injured man until friendly fire permitted a withdrawal, and then called forward a litter squad and assisted in the evacuation of the man.
