The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Master Sergeant Paul Stazen (ASN: 35029242), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, Combat Command “A”, 6th Armored Division, in action in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany during the period of 26 July 1944 to 8 May 1945. As tank commander he has demonstrated leadership and outstanding courage at all times. At Manderscheid, Germany, without regard for his own safety in the face of enemy fire, he administered first aid to two members of his crew who had been wounded, thereby saving the life of one of the men who had been severely wounded. On many occasions he made dismounted reconnaissances despite enemy small arms and artillery fire. His gallantry is in keeping with the finest traditions of the military service.
