Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 161 (June 20, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Oreste Sposato (ASN: 32545119), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 27 March 1945, in Germany. Technician Fifth Grade Sposato gallantly made fifteen trips to an area where accurate and heavy artillery fire was falling continuously to repair broken communication wires. Although he had to seek shelter on many occasions, he maintained communications between his fire direction center and guns to its rear so that supporting fire could be delivered on the enemy at all times. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technician Fifth Grade Sposato, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
