The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Alexander Menard (ASN: 1211629), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company K, 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, east of Ronssoy, France, 29 September 1918. Corporal Menard, with three other soldiers, went out into an open field under heavy shell and machine-gun fire and succeeded in carrying back to our lines four seriously wounded men.
