The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Frank T. Sedita (ASN: 20222553), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 5 October 1944, in Holland. Private First Class Sedita was serving as an automatic rifleman with an infantry company engaged in attacking an enemy-held town. During the street fighting with ensued, Private First Class Sedita and his companions were pinned down by fire from an enemy machine gun position. Without hesitation and displaying great courage, Private First Class Sedita worked his way to an alley between two houses from which he kept a stream of fire on the enemy positions. By drawing the enemy fire to himself, he enabled his comrades to advance, destroying the enemy opposition. This daring act, resulting in the loss of his life, was an inspiration to his fellow soldiers and enabled them to successfully take their objective. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Sedita, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
