Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 123 (December 15, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technician Fifth Grade Pasquale N. Santivasci (ASN: 32516085), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 118th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy during the period from 3 October 1944 to 9 October 1944, in Germany. Technician Fifth Grade Santivasci, serving as a radio operator, distinguished himself during a fierce battle to encircle the city of Aachen. Technician Fifth Grade Santivasci, without hesitation or concern for his own safety, continually exposed himself to heavy enemy shell fire by taking up his post in the upper stories of buildings in order to facilitate transmission of information to his battery. As a result of the courage and unswerving devotion to duty displayed by Technician Fifth Grade Santivasci, heavy and accurate fire was placed on the enemy at a most critical time. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technician Fifth Grade Santivasci, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
