The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant [then Private First Class] James H. Robison (ASN: 36893556), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19 December 1944, in Belgium. Observing where more effective fire could be brought on the furiously counterattacking enemy, Sergeant Robison moved his gun forward through heavy volumes of fire to a position where he brought fire on the enemy infantry. Although the enemy concentrated his fire on him, Sergeant Robison coolly remained covering the withdrawal of friendly troops while the enemy closed in on him. He removed a vital part of his machine gun after his supply of ammunition had become exhausted and then effected his withdrawal. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Robison, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
