The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Lambert J. Roberson (ASN: 20457377), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 14 July 1944, in France. Technical Sergeant Roberson was assigned to duty with an infantry assault force engaged in an offensive action against the enemy. A hostile counterattack of violent intensity made it necessary for our forces to withdraw, and some wounded men were left behind. Technical Sergeant Roberson, when he learned that the wounded had been left behind, voluntarily and with complete disregard for his personal safety, returned under fire to the original positions and evacuated one of the more seriously wounded. His gallant action doubtlessly saved the life of a wounded comrade, The personal courage and unselfish loyalty to his comrades exhibited by Technical Sergeant Robison reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
