The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Abbie Reviere (ASN: 38258374), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 1st Battalion, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 12 September 1944, in Holland. Technical Sergeant Reviere was serving as a Platoon Sergeant with an Infantry Company engaged in an attack against the enemy. Hostile defenses included barbed wire obstacles over which Sergeant Reviere’s platoon would have to advance to capture their objective. Braving hostile small arms fire, Technical Sergeant Reviere voluntarily advanced alone to the entanglements, cut them, and then ordered his men forward. Inspired by the gallantry of his conduct, his platoon attacked vigorously through the path cut in the obstacles by Technical Sergeant Reviere, quickly disposed of the enemy opposition, and captured their objective with a minimum of casualties. The courage and determined leadership exhibited by this splendid soldier reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Armed Forces.
