Headquarters, 34th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 14 (1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private Gabriel F. Pisano, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 34th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Italy, in 1943. When his platoon was pinned down by heavy machine gun and rifle fire, Private Pisano, with his platoon leader and four fellow Infantrymen, voluntarily made a bayonet attack on a large number of Germans, and routed them from their strongly defended positions. This act made it possible for his platoon to advance and accomplish its mission. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
