Headquarters, 30th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 209 (November 3, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) James F. Parramore (ASN: 0-1311812), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 20 January 1945, in Belgium. First Lieutenant Parramore and his platoon were given the mission of clearing the enemy from the edge of a town so that the roads could be cleared of mines, enabling tanks to come forward. As the platoon moved forward enemy machine gun fire was encountered. Skillfully leading his men, First Lieutenant Parramore directed them in knocking out the machine gun and in the capture of eight of the enemy. Despite the platoon becoming disorganized, First Lieutenant Parramore quickly reorganized his men and again led them forward, capturing ten more of the enemy. His heroic actions greatly aided in clearing a path for the large scale attack which followed. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Parramore, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
