The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Larry D. Owen (ASN: 34816477), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 24 March 1945, in Germany. Displaying great heroism, Technical Sergeant Owen left the cover of a building and ran for twenty-five yards through enemy fire to a trench where he killed three of the enemy who were holding up the advance of his company. The remaining enemy, demoralized by his aggressive action, rapidly surrendered. Technical Sergeant Owen’s company was then able to continue the attack and seize the objective. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technical Sergeant Owen, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
