The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private Joe Limon (ASN: 2268298), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company M, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near St. Thibault, France, 10 August 1918. Wounded in a scouting mission, Private Limon remained on observation until he had gained valuable information. After having his wound dressed, he returned to duty and made several trips to the flank regiments, each time bringing back valuable information for our own troops and of the enemy. He later voluntarily located a minenwerfer and heavy mortar emplacement from which the enemy was firing on neighboring troops.
