The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Louis Liberman (ASN: 125221), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 6th Field Artillery, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, at Villers Tournelle, Cantigny Sector, France, on 1 May 1918. Corporal Liberman displayed distinguished bravery in twice leaving his shelter during a heavy bombardment and going to the assistance of wounded men lying exposed in the open.
