The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Technician Fourth Grade William F. Myers (ASN: 39546041), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 334th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Belgium, on 26 December 1944. When the enemy launched an armored attack as he was assisting other members of his anti-tank platoon in the establishment of defensive positions, Technician Fourth Grade Myers quickly set up three mine road blocks in the path of the approaching vehicles under enemy observation and withering fire. He then deployed his men to cover the road blocks and succeeded in capturing 35 prisoners. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Technician Fourth Grade Myers, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
