The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Frank Lemaster (ASN: 155210), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 1st Engineers, 1st Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Bois-de-Moncy, France, 9 October 1918. Remaining alone on an outpost 100 yards in advance of his detachment, Private Lemaster, by the efficient and effective use of his rifle, stopped a German counterattack, personally killing 12 of the enemy during the exploit.
